The 2021 Festival Schedule

Classes & Workshops

Technique Master Classes

Each morning from 9:00am – Noon students will spend time within their age group honing their technique in classes designed to warm-up for the day of workshops and rehearsals ahead, expand knowledge of how to apply technique within performance, and strengthen their capabilities on stage. Our faculty will focus primarily on classical ballet, a range of modern dance techniques, and stretch and conditioning to better prepare and preserve the body for a lifetime of movement.

Choreography & Performance Labs

NCDP labs go to the heart of the festival’s mission; to cultivate innovative choreographers and bold performing artists. Labs provide a safe and challenging environment for individual and collective exploration and risk-taking. Labs are for all intensive participants – aspiring choreographers, non-choreographers, and performing artists! They will help you to become a stronger, more intentional dancer.  If you want to become a choreographer, you’ll take a huge leap forward in developing the skills and knowledge to get there.

Panels, Mentoring, and Workshops

Our diverse, experienced teaching artists and choreographers are committed to your personal and professional development. You’ll experience large and small group sessions that cover topics to prepare you for a successful future in the performing arts. And the relationships you form with these professionals will not end at NCDP. They will be there to guide you along your journey long after the event ends.

The Best Intensive for Aspiring Young Performance Artists and Choreographers

The Art of Performance and the Craft of Choreography:

At New Century Dance Project (NCDP)

If you want to be a better choreographer, you have to understand what it takes to be a great performer. Likewise, if you want to be an outstanding performance artist, then understanding the elements of choreography is essential. Choreographers who understand the dancers they’re working with will be better at drawing out what they need from those who they’ve cast in their work.Dancers who understand the choreographic process itself will be better at giving a dance maker what they’re asking for in their work. So, although performance and choreography do each require some unique training, education, and skills, there is much that overlaps between these two artistic endeavors. Regardless of your career goals and aspirations as a performance artist or choreographer, understanding what happens on the stage, off the stage, and behind the scenes will make you stand out among other dancers giving you a strategic advantage.
